Danielle "Dani" Cameranesi (born June 30, 1995 in Plymouth , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has played in the position of striker for the Buffalo Beauts in the National Women's Hockey League since the 2018/19 season . Cameranesi has been a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team since 2014 and is a two-time world and Olympic champion.

Career

Cameranesi spent her high school at The Blake School in Hopkins , Minnesota . During her time at school, she took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2012 and 2013 with the US U18 junior selection . The striker won the silver medal. After the 2012/13 school year, Cameranesi moved to the University of Minnesota , where she studied for the next four years and, in parallel, worked for the university's ice hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , played.

In the service of the Golden Gophers , the offensive player was nominated for the first time for the women's national ice hockey team of the United States at the beginning of the 2014/15 season and took part in the 2014 4 Nations Cup with them. In the same season, she won the NCAA National College Championship with the university, followed by winning the gold medal at the 2015 World Championship . Although at the end of the 2015/16 game year she successfully defended the national championship with the University of Minnesota and Cameranesi was selected third overall by the Connecticut Whale from the National Women's Hockey League in the 2016 NWHL Draft , she found her during her college days no longer back in the national team. It was not until the 4 Nations Cup 2017 that Cameranesi played in an international tournament for the first time since the 2015 World Cup. Previously, after completing her studies, she had been recruited by the US ice hockey association USA Hockey in preparation for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and finally qualified for the 23-member tournament squad with which she finally won the gold medal.
