Danny Eichelbaum (born December 25, 1973 in Treuenbrietzen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Since 2009 he has been a member of the Brandenburg state parliament .

Life and work

From 1980 to 1990 Eichelbaum attended a polytechnic high school in Jüterbog . In 1992 he successfully graduated from high school in the same town. From 1992 to 1998 he studied at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and then at the University of Potsdam Law and passed his first state examination. He then completed his legal clerkship with Peter-Michael Diestel, among others . In 2001 he passed the 2nd state examination and has been a fully qualified lawyer ever since.

From 2001 to 2009 he worked as an office manager for Katherina Reiche, member of the Bundestag .

He is single and lives in Jüterbog.

Eichelbaum has been a member of the CDU since 1992 and a member of the board of the CDU Teltow-Fläming since 1993 . From 1995 he was vice chairman of this association before he was elected chairman in 2005. He has been a member of the Teltow-Fläming district council since 1998 and became chairman of his parliamentary group there in 2003. Eichelbaum was also a member of the Jüterbog city council from 1998 to 2012.

For the state election in Brandenburg on September 27, 2009 , Eichelbaum ran for a seat in the Teltow-Fläming I state constituency and entered the state parliament via the state list . In the 5th electoral term he was a full member of the Legal Committee, the Judges' Election Committee and the Parliamentary Control Commission. Eichelbaum has been the state chairman of the working group for Christian Democratic Lawyers Brandenburg since July 2011. In November 2011 he took over the chairmanship of the legal committee of the Brandenburg state parliament. At his own request, he resigned from this position in January 2014.

In the 7th electoral term of the Brandenburg State Parliament, Eichelbaum is a full member of the Legal Committee as well as the Committee for Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection, the Committee for European Affairs and Development Policy and the Committee for Judges. He is also the spokesperson for his parliamentary group's legal policy.

In June 2019, the district council members voted Danny Eichelbaum as the new chairman of the district council of Teltow-Fläming, and the city councilors in Jüterbog elected him chairman of the city council assembly.

Eichelbaum has been a board member of the Brandenburg district council since August 2019.

In November 2019, the CDU parliamentary group in Brandenburg elected him deputy chairman.

In April 2013 Eichelbaum was elected President of the Brandenburg Wrestling Association. Danny Eichelbaum has been a member of the Naval Officers Association (MOV) since 2015.

criticism

Eichelbaum came under fire in January 2011 when he proposed the introduction of a lump-sum, socially acceptable court fee for social justice with the statement “There are many obviously unfounded lawsuits from ALG II recipients. Court fees would reduce the inhibition threshold to inundate the social courts with filing unsuccessful lawsuits. ”Demanded. In the first instance, a flat fee of 75 euros per complaint should be charged to the social courts. This quote, however, is only part of an interview that Eichelbaum gave to the DPA on January 1, 2011. Eichelbaum thus followed a recommendation of the Conference of Justice Ministers, the Federal Council and all presidents of the regional social courts.

Furthermore, an investigation was initiated in 2012 based on anonymous reports against Danny Eichelbaum. The CDU politician was charged with false information about his place of residence and excessive travel expenses from the state parliament. The responsible public prosecutor discontinued the proceedings against a monetary payment to non-profit organizations in January 2014 (Section 153a (1) No. 2 StPO ). According to the public prosecutor's office, the allegations of election fraud and fraud have "not been confirmed under criminal law". Danny Eichelbaum is not punished, there was no entry in the register, the presumption of innocence still applies. The state treasury had to bear the costs of the proceedings. Nevertheless, Danny Eichelbaum resigned his position as chairman of the legal committee of the Brandenburg state parliament in January 2014.
