International recognition of the place took place during the Green March from 6. November 1975 . The marching columns that penetrated from the north via Tah, twelve kilometers away, into the Western Sahara, then Spanish Sahara , encountered a line of defense of the Spanish military near Daoura . In the course of the handover of the Western Sahara from Spain to Morocco, the area of Daoura was occupied by the Moroccan military a short time later.
