Dashboard Confessional is the stage name of the American musician Christopher Ender Carrabba, who is also the band leader of the music group of the same name.

Life

At the age of 15, Christopher Ender Carrabba received his first guitar from his uncle Angelo. It wasn't until he graduated from high school , however, that he began to take a serious look at music. So it came about that he played in the band The Vacant Andies for a few years . When the band broke up, Carrabba, who was now working as a primary school teacher in Florida , moved to The Agency and released his first album with them. When Christopher began experimenting with acoustic recordings while making this record, his band members, impressed by his pieces, tried to persuade him to embark on an acoustic solo career. After The Agency split up, Christopher joined the Christian emocore band Further Seems Forever as a singer , from which he said goodbye after the release of the first album The Moon is Down in order to finally go his own way. In search of a name he is inspired by the line of text On the way home this car hears my confessions from his song The Sharp Hint Of New Tears and calls himself Dashboard Confessional .

The band

The band was created as a solo project by Chris Carraba, who in 2000, when his first solo LP The Swiss Army Romance was released, was still playing in the band Further seems Forever . He was hired by Vagrant Records , which otherwise relied on bands like The Get Up Kids or Alkaline Trio . In 2001 his second album The Places you have come to fear the most was released , on which he continued to provide acoustic music. With his follow-up album A Mark A Mission A Brand A Scar , however, he showed a departure from his typical acoustic music and allowed himself to be played by some friends (including Jerry Castellanos, who was also on Further Seems Forever ) with electric bass , drums and Support background singing. The album was produced by Gil Norton , who has already worked on works by the Foo Fighters and Pixies , among others .

Dashboard Confessional is the first and so far only band that has managed to be invited to an MTV unplugged show without having posted millions in sales. She owes this largely to her fans, who were able to convince an MTV producer with her singing at the concerts. It was this concert that made Dashboard Confessional's breakthrough .

Her title Hands Down became known to a wider audience in Germany when it became the theme song for the television series 18 - Alone Among Girls . The video for the single Screaming Infidelities won the MTV2 Award at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards .

The single Stolen , which was placed in the US charts at number 44, was recorded for the German market in a version with the band Juli .

The new album Alter The Ending was released on November 10, 2009. There is a normal and a “deluxe” edition, with an additional CD containing all the tracks on the album as acoustic versions as well as an additional bonus song. The first single of the new album is entitled Belle Of The Boulevard .

In 2010 the band played as the opener for Bon Jovi on their The Circle Tour in the USA. This was announced by band leader Jon Bon Jovi on the show "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on December 9, 2009.
