"Lonesome Dave" Peverett (born April 16, 1943 in Dulwich , England , † February 7, 2000 in Orlando , Florida ) was a British blues and hard rock musician. He became known as the front man of the rock band Foghat .

life and career

Peverett grew up in Brixton, South London . First he played in the local band The Roadrunners, later he became the front man of the Cross Ties Blues Band. This was followed by short phases with the Lonesome Jax Blues Band and the Swiss rock band Les Questions. Eventually he returned to England, where he joined Savoy Brown as a guitarist and singer.

In 1971 he was a founding member of Foghat in London. With the band he moved to New York City in 1976 . He was the front man for Foghat for fourteen years, until the band's record sales left much to be desired and Peverett returned to England in 1985. In 1990 Peverett Lonesome founded Dave's Foghat. The new band toured the United States as a counterpart to the existing Roger Earl's Foghat . In 1993 the two Foghat bands reunited. The band remained together with almost the same line-up until 1999 when Peverett was diagnosed with cancer.

In February 2000, Dave Peverett died of cancer in Orlando, Florida.
