David B. Ingram

David B. Ingram (* 1952 ) is a philosopher at Loyola University Chicago .

Ingram received his MA and 1980 PhD from the University of California, San Diego . There he worked as a student of Herbert Marcuse and received his doctorate under Frederick Olafson on “Truth, Method, and Understanding in the Human Sciences: the Gadamer / Habermas Controversy” . He then taught as an assistant professor at the University of Northern Iowa from 1980 to 1987 before moving to Chicago in 1987. Ingram's research is mainly in the fields of political philosophy and legal philosophy , specializing in contemporary German and French philosophy.

Ingram was among 250 scientists who criticized Bradley Manning's detention conditions in an open letter to Barack Obama . He also signed open letters to those in power in Iran.
