David Carson (Director)

David Carson (* 1948 in Exmouth , Devon ) is a British director best known for directing the television series Spaceship Enterprise - The Next Century and the films Star Trek: Gathering of Generations and Unstoppable .

Career

Carson made his debut in 1981 directing an episode of the British soap opera Coronation Street . Then he tried to find engagements in the United States . Although he had never looked into the Star Trek franchise before, he was hired by producers Rick Berman and David Livingstone to direct the episode The Enemy of Starship Enterprise: The Next Century (7th episode of season 3 ) in 1989 . Three more episodes of The Next Century followed by 1992 , including the Emmy- winning episode The Old Enterprise . In 1993 he was appointed to direct the pilot film The Envoy of the new Star Trek series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and later three other Deep Space Nine episodes. His last and most important work for Star Trek was the movie Meet the Generations in 1994.

After 1994, Carson directed numerous episodes of several television series and in 2000 the miniseries The Tenth Kingdom . He also directed the 2002 television remake of Carrie . His second feature film directing, Unstoppable, starring Wesley Snipes , received mostly negative reviews in 2004.
