David Holton

David Holton (* 1946 ) is a British Neo-Greekist and Professor of Modern Greek at Cambridge University .

Life

Holton is a member of Selwyn College and the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at Cambridge University. He works both in literary studies on the genre of the Byzantine love novel , in particular Erotokritos , on early prints and on Venetocracy (the rule of the city-state of Venice over Crete and Cyprus ) and linguistically on the history and current structure of Greek .

Together with Geoffrey Horrocks and with the participation of Panagiotis Toufexis , Holton directed the research project "Grammar of Medieval Greek" at Cambridge University from 2004 to 2009.
