David Torn

David Torn (* 25. May 1953 in Amityville , Long Iceland , New York ) is an American jazz - guitarist and composer .

Torn received his musical training from Leonard Bernstein ( Music for young people ) as well as John Abercrombie , Pat Martino , Paul Weiss and Arthur Basile . He began his professional career in the 1970s with the Zobo Fun Band and became known as a member of the Everyman Band and Jan Garbarek's Quartet in the 1980s .

On the CD What Means Solid, Traveler? he specifically points out that there were no synthesizers during the recordings, and if one cannot assign a sound, one should assume that it is a guitar.

Torn was also known as a film musician. He worked here mainly with Carter Burwell and George S. Clinton , as well as Howard Shore and Ryuichi Sakamoto and worked as a guitarist on the soundtracks of films such as Kalifornia (1993), Three Kings (1999), Traffic (2000) and A Knight's Tale (2001) with.
