David van Zanten (born May 8, 1982 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player .

Career

Van Zanten is the son of a Dutch father and an Irish mother. First, van Zanten played for the Irish amateur club Tolka Rovers from the Dublin district of Glasnevin . In 1999 the Irishman moved to the Scottish league for Celtic Glasgow , but could never assert himself here and so his contract was dissolved in 2003. In 2003 he moved to FC St. Mirren . In 2006 he was promoted to the Scottish Premier League with his club from the Scottish Football League First Division . In the summer of 2008, van Zanten moved to Hibernian Edinburgh . After engagements at Greenock Morton and Hamilton Academical , the defensive player joined FC St. Mirren in the summer of 2010. van Zanten signed a two-year contract with the Saints .
