Davis Cup 1948

The Davis Cup in 1948 was the 37th edition of the competition for men's national tennis teams organized by the ITF . The competition was held in two continental zones, the European and American zones . The winners of the two zones played a playoff for the finals.

In the continental playoff, Australia prevailed against Czechoslovakia , but were clearly defeated by defending champions USA 0: 5 in the final from September 4th to 6th . It was the US's 16th title to date and the third in a row.

Attendees

Including the defending champion, 30 countries took part in the competition. The following teams played for a final ticket against the defending champion.

European zone

Pakistan took part in the competition for the first time. Furthermore, Turkey played their first encounter after they had already reported in 1946 , but then did not start.

In the final between defending champions USA and Australia, the USA could clearly prevail with 5-0. It was the sixth US finals in a row, and the fifth game against Australia in a row. The USA won the USA's 16th title to date.
