De Morgen (2007)

De Morgen (German Der Morgen ) is a Dutch-language Belgian daily newspaper published in Brussels . It was created in 1976 as the successor to the socialist party newspapers De Volksgazet and Vooruit . Even if the connection to the social democratic party is now less close, De Morgen still represents left to social liberal standpoints and has various weekly supplements. The newspaper sees itself as a younger alternative to its two competitors De Standaard and De Tijd . These three newspapers are considered quality newspapers in Belgium . De Morgen is published by De Persgroep , which also publishes the popular newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws . The circulation is around 60 to 70,000 copies:

  • 1999: 64.397
  • 2000: 66,967
  • 2001: 67.076
  • 2002: 68.395
  • 2003: 69.146
  • 2006: 73,100
  • 2013: 53,000

In 2004 and again in 2006, De Morgen was recognized for its layout at the European Newspaper Award as a national newspaper .
