Deborah Iona Raffin (born March 13, 1953 in Los Angeles , California - November 21, 2012 ) was an American actress and producer.

Life

Deborah Raffin was born in 1953 as one of three children to actress Trudy Marshall and her husband, Phillip J. Raffin, a realtor. Her two siblings are Bill Raffin and Judy Holston. She attended Valley College in California.

Raffin began her acting career at the age of 20. In 1981 she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her role in Touched by Love . However, she received a nomination for a Golden Raspberry for this very role . Since her acting career did not seem particularly successful at the beginning, she tried her luck as a producer (e.g. for futures sports ). After Susan Dey, Raffin was slated for the role of Sandy in Grease . However, the producer Allan Carr met at a dinner in Helen Reddy's house the Australian singer Olivia Newton-John and these got the role.

Raffin gained general fame through her role in the television series A Heavenly Family , in which she played Julie Camden (later Camden-Hastings ) from 1996 to 2006 .

Raffin was married to the film producer Michael Viner since 1974 . The marriage was divorced in 2005.

She died of leukemia in November 2012 at the age of 59 .
