Deggendorf Hauptbahnhof is located in Bavaria and belongs to station category  5. The station is currently not part of any transport association, so the regular DB tariff is applied. It is planned to integrate the railway into the network area of ​​the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Deggendorf .

history

The Plattling – Deggendorf branch line went into operation as early as 1866. In 1874 the building was continued in the direction of the Bavarian Forest . The route was completed in 1877; this opened the station - at that time still called "Deggendorf". After that, further railway lines were built. On October 17, 1891, the rail connection to Metten and on November 26, 1913, a further line was opened, initially to Hengersberg , which was extended to Kalteneck from August 1, 1914 . Due to the increased importance of this station, it was finally given the addition "Hbf" on May 5, 1941

buildings

The two-storey station building , a historicizing flat saddle roof building, was built in 1877 and is now a listed building . It has a gabled central projectile and a canopy on the house platform . An underpass leads to the central platform . The platform that was used for the now closed Deggendorf – Metten railway has been dismantled. A goods hall, built at the end of the 19th century as a bare brick building with a flat gable roof, is also protected as a cultural monument.
