Dennis Matkosky
Dennis Matkosky is an American songwriter who received a Grammy and an Oscar nomination for the title Maniac .
Life
Matkosky grew up in Philadelphia and attended Temple University . After graduating in 1979, he moved to Los Angeles with his wife , where he worked as a songwriter. His title Mirror, Mirror , which he wrote with Michael Sembello , was recorded by Diana Ross and reached number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1981 . Together with Sembello he also wrote Maniac for the soundtrack of the film Flashdance . The song interpreted by Sembello reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983. Matkosky and Sembello were then awarded a Grammy and nominated for an Oscar. Since then, the title has been frequently reused in US film productions.
Matkosky wrote for Clay Aiken , Eddie Money , Boz Scaggs , LeAnn Rimes and Keith Urban , among others .
