The Minas Department is located in the northwest of the Neuquén Province in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered by Chile to the north and west , the Chos Malal department to the east and the Ñorquín department to the south .

The capital of the Minas Department is Andacollo .
