The black boomerang is an adventure four-part series that was produced by ZDF in 1982 and broadcast in the Advent program of the same year.
action
Professor Peter Lester is a biochemist in Munich . He lives there with his wife and 15-year-old son Michael. When he was to produce his innovative substance Lestron in Australia on behalf of a chemical cartel , the Lesters moved there. But they realize too late that Peter was the victim of an intrigue and got caught between the fronts of a murderous international competition. Michael, his son, disappears from the heavily guarded research camp in the middle of the Australian bush. He had to leave his dog behind in Munich, and when he sees a dingo in the wilderness , he thinks he recognizes his Ranka in this dog . He secretly leaves the camp and gets lost in the wasteland.
Michael is found by Aborigines and receives survival training. The Australian natives also introduce it to their mystical rites . At the same time, the criminal cartel is trying to get hold of Lestron's formula. In turn, Professor Lester and his wife try to escape to find their son. After their son is brought back to them by a ranger, they flee together. Lester's wife was shot in hiding, but the professor jumps in front of it and was seriously injured in the head. Selective amnesia is diagnosed in the hospital. His wife finally throws the already developed Lestron down the sink, which avoids the danger.
Others
- In order to get the support of the Australian co-partner, author Rüdiger Bahr had to rewrite the plot of the film within a very short time. He had researched too well and actually built into the film the exploitation of raw materials and the associated oppression of the Australian natives by Japanese companies. However, since they are the main sponsors of Australian commercial television, denouncing Japanese business practices could potentially have resulted in serious losses in advertising revenue.
- Rüdiger Bahr , who wrote the screenplay, is also the German dubbing voice of " Al Bundy " actor Ed O'Neill and was already seen in the lead role in earlier four-part plays (Call of the Gold) or heard as the narrator (two years vacation) .
Radio play adaptation
In 1982 the Gruner + Jahr record label maritim published a three-part radio play adaptation of the novel by Rüdiger Bahr. The radio play version was written by Rolf Bohn , and Konrad Halver and Sibylle Bohn-Halver were responsible for the direction and production . The Professor Lester here said Rolf Jülich , his wife Helen Sibylle Bohn, the son of Michael Konrad Halver. Manfred Schermutzki , Claus Wagener , Michael Weckler and Gerlach Fiedler could also be heard in other roles .
