Destroy This Mad Brute - Enlist is an American propaganda poster by Harry Ryle Hopps that was created in 1917 during the First World War . It measures 106 cm × 71 cm and shows the German enemy in the form of a human-like primate with a characteristic Prussian spiked bonnet with the inscription Militarism , a blond, twisted mustache like Kaiser Wilhelm II wore it, a blood-smeared wooden club with the inscription Kultur in der right hand, also bloody, and in the left arm a trapped bare-breasted woman. This propaganda poster refers to real historical events such as the invasion of Belgium (" Rape of Belgium ") and the manifesto of the 93 . This propaganda was intended to induce Americans to volunteer for the US Army .
