Detlef Siegfried

Detlef Siegfried (born October 22, 1958 in Hohenwestedt ) is a German contemporary historian .

Live and act

Detlef Siegfried studied history , sociology and German . In 1991 he was at the University of Kiel Dr. phil. PhD , habilitation in modern history at the University of Hamburg in 2006 .

From 1993 to 1996 he was a research fellow at the Körber Foundation in Hamburg and from 1996 to 2010 Associate Professor for Modern German History and Cultural History at the University of Copenhagen . In 2000 he was a fellow at the German-American Center for Visiting Scholars at the German Historical Institute in Washington, and from 2002 to 2005 he was a research fellow at the Research Center for Contemporary History in Hamburg . Since 2011 he has been Professor of Modern German and European History at the University of Copenhagen.

Detlef Siegfried works primarily on the history of everyday and mass culture , youth culture , media history , left-wing radicalism and ethnicity . He is a member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and the scientific advisory boards of the Research Center for Contemporary History in Hamburg, the archives of the German youth movement Burg Ludwigstein and the Federal President's history competition .
