The German Society of Epidemiology e.V. (DGEpi) is an independent scientific society that in Germany the subject epidemiology in research and teaching represents.

The society emerged in 2005 from the predecessor German Working Group for Epidemiology (DAE) . Other German societies with epidemiological relevance are the GMDS , the DGSMP and the Dt. Region of the international biometric society ( IBSDR ). All three were previously supporting organizations of the DAE. The society is a member of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies .

Since 2009, in memory of the German epidemiologist Stephan Weiland, the Society has awarded the Stephan Weiland Prize for young epidemiologists, worth up to 1000 euros .
