The Sankt-Petri-Schule at the Sankt-Petri-Kirche in Copenhagen is a German-Danish private school . It was founded in 1575 by Theophilus Neovinus , making it the oldest German school abroad and the second oldest of all schools in Copenhagen.
history
In 1575, Theophilus Neovinus confirmed the founding of the school with a certificate. In return for payment from the Danish king, he had to ensure that the students of his school sang German choral songs in the church on Sundays and that the bells rang. In the first two centuries of its existence, the school was a school for the poor .
In 2010 a high school superstructure was set up. In the 2015/2016 school year, 17 students attended the 10th, 8 the 11th and 1 student the 12th grade.
Awards
In the 2015 ranking of the Danish Ministry of Education, the Sankt Petri School slipped to 62nd place. In 2006 the school had taken first place out of 1,740 Danish schools. At that time, according to national statistics , the students in the St. Petri School's exam class achieved the best average grades in the standardized exams in Denmark . In the subjects German and mathematics, the students were absolutely in first place, in the other eight subjects only once below the 40th place.
In 2013 the school received the first prize from the Federal Ministry of Education for the best communication between school management, students and parents.

- Richard von Weizsäcker , later Federal President, attended the Sankt Petri School in the 1920s as the child of the German diplomat Ernst Heinrich Freiherr von Weizsäcker .
- Hanns Grössel's father was a teacher at the school from 1939 to 1945.
