The German Literature Fund is a non-profit association for the promotion of German-language literature.

history

The German Literature Fund was founded in 1980 and is based in Darmstadt . Founding members are the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels , the German Academy for Language and Literature , the German Library Association , the Free German Author Association , the Association of German Writers , the PEN Center Germany and the Verwertungsgesellschaft Wort .

Every year he awards the Kranichstein Literature Prize . He has also awarded a New York scholarship and a London scholarship , a sponsorship award and the Paul Celan Prize for literary translations.

Bodies

The most important body is the board of trustees, which meets twice a year and decides on all funding measures without exception. The term of office of a member of the Board of Trustees is three years and can be extended once. This committee currently includes: Anke Büttner (for the German Library Association), Jo Lendle (for the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels), Norbert Niemann (for the cultural work of German writers in the VS), Marion Poschmann (for the German Academy for Language and Poetry) , Uwe B. Employee

The literary scholar Gunther Nickel has been responsible for projects and reports since 2002 . The general secretary of the German Academy for Language and Poetry, Bernd Busch , acts as a part-time managing director . Sabine Rössler takes care of administration and organization.
