Dichondreae is a tribe from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The type genus is dichondra .

description

Representatives of the tribe dichondreae are prostrate herbaceous plants to lianas . The base of the leaf blades is heart-shaped or sometimes wedge-shaped. The flowers are radially symmetrical and hermaphroditic. The sepals are identical and can enlarge on the fruit. The stamens are flattened and hairy. The pollen grains are tricolated and not prickly. The stylus is partially digested to completely spherical and carries scars . The fruits are nuts that do not pop open .

Occurrence

The genera of the tribe dichondreae occur in America , Africa , Australia , in Southeast Asia and on Madagascar .

  • Dichondra J.R. Forst. & G.Forst. : With around 9–15 species
  • Falkia Thunb. : With three kinds; they occur in Africa
  • Metaporana N.E.Br. : With six kinds; they occur in East Africa, Madagascar and Socotra
  • Nephrophyllum A. Rich. : With only one type:
  • Petrogenia I.M.Johnst. : With only one type:
  • Porana Burm. f. : With one species that occurs from Southeast Asia to the Philippines and one species that occurs in Mexico.

For the time being, the following genera are also included in the tribe:

  • Calycobolus Roem. & Schult. : With about 30 kinds; they occur in tropical Africa, tropical America, and Madagascar
  • Dipteropeltis Hallier f. : With three kinds; they occur in tropical West Africa
  • Rapona Baill. : With only one type:

According to the cladistic definition, the tribe corresponds to the most comprehensive clade in the Dichondra repens JR Forst. & G. Forst. is classified, but not Jacquemontia pentanthos (Jacq.) G. Don or Cressa cretica L.
