The finals - Rhein-Ruhr 2020
Under the name Die Finals - Rhein-Ruhr 2020 , sixteen German championships were to be held on June 6 and 7, 2020 in the metropolitan region of Rhine-Ruhr in the cities of Düsseldorf , Duisburg , Neuss , Oberhausen and Aachen .
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the sports associations involved, the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia and the broadcasting TV channels ARD and ZDF agreed at the end of March 2020 to postpone all events, taking into account the national and international sports calendar. However, it is at the discretion of each individual sports association to hold their German championships later in 2020.
More than 3,700 athletes, supported by 1,400 coaches, supervisors and officials, were to compete in 19 sports at 16 championships on two days in June for a total of almost 140 titles.
The time and place of the German championships in archery , para-archery , breaking , canoeing , climbing , modern pentathlon , stand-up paddling , parkour , rhythmic gymnastics , taekwondo , table tennis , para-table tennis , trial , triathlon and gymnastics were brought together again hoped for greater media attention, especially for sports that are less crowded . In addition, 3 × 3 basketball , canoe polo and riding should be able to present themselves as part of the finals.
The German Championships in Athletics are also part of the finals and were planned for Braunschweig at the same time .

The championships were planned to be held at the following locations and competition venues:
Aachen
- Main stadium in Aachen in the Soers sports park for riding and partly modern pentathlon : cross-country running and pistol shooting
Dusseldorf
- Medienhafen for triathlon , canoeing , stand up paddling and canoe polo
- Castello for table tennis , para table tennis and taekwondo
- Castle area for breaking and 3 × 3 basketball
Duisburg
- Landscape park for archery , para-archery , climbing , parkour running and trials
Neuss
- Partly modern pentathlon : epee fencing in the stadium hall on Jahnstraße , swimming in the city pool and show jumping at the Gut Neuhaus stud in Grevenbroich-Neukirchen
