Die neue Nase is a short, German silent film comedy by and with Ernst Lubitsch from 1916.

action

Ernst is on the loose and therefore takes advice from a matchmaker. Since he likes the athlete Anna Muscle a lot, but who only wants a man with a so-called cuff, he has an operation accordingly. The new nose is still a little sore and not healed, when he is already rushing to Anna. She is enthusiastic about his new tine and presses Ernst firmly to her. This is not good for the still “soft” nose, and it is pressed flat. Ernst flees and tries to save what can be saved. Then Ernst wakes up in horror: he only dreamed all this.

Production notes

The new nose is one of the least known films that Lubitsch has made. The one-act play with a length of 308 meters was shot in autumn 1916, passed censorship in November of the same year and was banned from youth. Presumably, the 15-minute film premiered towards the end of the year. The short film was presented in Vienna on December 15, 1916 and was released on March 2, 1917.
