Diemut Schilling

Diemut Schilling (born November 16, 1965 in Bremen ) is a German sculptor and university lecturer .

Schilling lives and works in Wuppertal . Since 2011 she has been a professor for drawing and printmaking at the Alanus University of Art and Society .

Live and act

Schilling grew up in Hamburg and came to Wuppertal in 1984. In 1986/87 she studied at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice and then in 1987 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Tony Cragg . In 1990 she received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation and in 1992 she became a master student in the Tony Cragg class and received a Belgian “Transfer” scholarship from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1993 he received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation in Moscow and in 1997 a Karl Schmidt-Rottluff scholarship.

Since 2008, Schilling has been a lecturer in drafting, spatial representation and free-hand drawing in the media design department at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

From 1999 to 2009 she gave classes and numerous workshops for the artists of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation Germany / International. From 2000 to 2011 lecturer for freehand drawing and illustration in the design department at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences . In 2004 she taught at the Darmstadt Junior Academy, Hesse for gifted students. In 2007 she was a lecturer for “Design-Movement-Identity” in Faculty 4 at the University of Siegen , where she held a substitute professorship for “Aesthetics and Communication” in the Faculty of Art in 2008/09.

In 1999 she initiated the annual light and art campaign Lichterwege in the Ostersbaum residential area .
