Dieter Friede (diplomat)

Dieter Friede (born January 9, 1938 in Graefenhainichen ; † July 26, 1982 in Berlin ) was a German diplomat . From 1977 to 1981 he was the GDR's ambassador to Bangladesh .

Life

After attending high school, Friede passed his Abitur and studied foreign policy at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 1956 to 1960 . He completed his studies with a degree in political science.

1960 Friede entered the diplomatic service of the GDR. From 1961 to 1962 he was initially an attaché at the GDR embassy in Beijing , then until 1964 he was an employee in the 2nd non-European department ( Southeast Asia ) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA) from 1964 to 1967 Vice Consul in Rangoon ( Burma ). Then again employee later sector manager in the 2nd non-European department (South and Southeast Asia). From 1971 to 1974 he was First Secretary and Deputy Ambassador in Colombo , the capital of Sri Lanka . From 1974 to 1977 Friede was sector manager in the MfAA. From October 1977 to 1981 he was finally the GDR ambassador in Dhaka .

Friede was a member of the SED . Friede died after a long and serious illness at the age of 44.
