Dieter Prochnow (born May 22, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German actor .

Life

After completing his acting training, Dieter Prochnow made his debut in 1963 at the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen in the role of Andri in Andorra by Max Frisch . Other stages in his stage career included, from 1964 to 1968, the Nuremberg Municipal Theaters , the Düsseldorfer Kammerspiele (1968–1974) and the German Theater in Hamburg (1974–1979). There he played in the play Family , directed by Ulrich Heising, together with his younger brother Jürgen .

Between 1964 and 1995, Dieter Prochnow was also a very busy film and television actor, although from the 1970s he was mainly seen in crime series such as Der Kommissar , Der Alte and Derrick as well as in four Tatort episodes.

As a voice actor he lent Harry Dean Stanton in 1974 in the film Where the Lilies Bloom his voice. Dieter Prochnow also spoke roles in radio plays, for example in Der Würger von Canongate by Angus McAllister and Das Ende des Schlittenbau by Hubert Wiedfeld .
