Dieter Storz

Dieter Storz (* 1958 ) is a German military historian and conservator .

Life

Storz initially did military service in the Bundeswehr. after he studied history and German at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and in 1990 at Hans Schmidt with a thesis on war and armaments image before 1914. European land forces before the First World War to Dr. phil. PhD. For his work he received the Werner Hahlweg Prize for Military History and Defense Sciences, which was awarded for the first time in 1992 .

Storz has been a research assistant at the Bavarian Army Museum in Ingolstadt since 1991 . As chief conservator there, he is responsible in particular for handguns, but also for artillery, equipment and memorabilia.

He has published several articles and books with a focus on German military and armaments history of the 19th and 20th centuries. His work Gewehr und Karabiner 98 is considered a standard work . Storz is also an employee of the RWM-Depesche and author of the international online encyclopedia on the First World War 1914-1918-online, funded by the DFG .
