Dieter Zembski (born November 6, 1946 in Bremen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

societies

Zembski received his first professional contract for the 1968/69 season with Bundesliga club Werder Bremen . He made his debut on June 7, 1969 (34th matchday) in a 6-5 win at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach with a substitution for Helmut Schimeczek in the 38th minute. In the 1969/70 season he played 19 point games. In the following season he finally won a regular place and was used together with his experienced teammate in defense , Horst-Dieter Höttges , in all 34 point games; he got two goals. He scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 7, 1970 (10th matchday) in a 1-1 home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach with the opening goal in the 10th minute. He was also used in 27 DFB Cup games , in which he scored three goals.

For the 1975/76 season he moved to league rivals Eintracht Braunschweig , where he won a regular place in the defense after initial difficulties. For Braunschweig he played 122 times for points, twelve times in the DFB Cup and nine times in the UEFA Cup competition. For this his team qualified due to the good performance in his premiere season as fifth place in the championship. He played his first of three games on September 15, 1976 in the first round first leg in a 7-0 win against Danish representatives Holbæk B&I . In 1976/77 he reached third place with Eintracht Braunschweig, the (to this day) best placement in the championship, as a result of which he was used again in the UEFA Cup competition. He played six games before he was eliminated from the competition in the third round with 1: 4 on aggregate after the return leg against PSV Eindhoven . With the descent of Braunschweig at the end of the 1979/80 season, he ended his active football career after a total of 301 first division games in which he scored four goals.

National team

National coach Helmut Schön appointed him to the senior national team at the beginning of the 1971/72 season . In Hanover , he played his first international match against the Mexican national team on September 8, 1971 . In the 5-0 win he came on after half-time for Berti Vogts ; However, it was his only appearance in the jersey of the DFB , since the young Paul Breitner ousted him.

Before and after his footballing career, he played with Bremen bands such as “The Mushroams”, “BLAX” and “Happy Times” on drums and guitar. In 1965 he appeared with the Mushroams on the popular music show Beat Club . He is married and lives with his wife in Bremen. He also runs a youth soccer camp every summer.
