Dietmar Sauermann

Dietmar Sauermann (born February 25, 1937 in Breslau ; † August 9, 2011 ) was a German folklorist .

Live and act

Dietmar Sauermann studied German literature, history and geography at the universities of Munich and Münster from 1957 and passed the first state examination for teaching at secondary schools in 1963 . In 1966 he was at the University of Muenster in Bruno Schier with a thesis on folk song research Dr. phil. PhD . Then he was a research assistant at the Folklore Seminar of the University of Münster.

In 1970 he began working for the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association and took over the management of the Folklore Commission for Westphalia . From 1970 to 1978 he was also editor of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Zeitschrift für Volkskunde . In 1987 he received an honorary professorship at the University of Münster. In 2001 he retired .

His research and publication activities focused on Westphalian folklore and cultural history, narrative research , festival research, the history of associations and biographical reports on general life stories and special experiences such as prisoners of war and displacement .
