Francis Moore (ice hockey player)
Francis William "Dinty" Moore (* 29. October 1900 in Port Colborne , Ontario , † 21st January 1976 in Morgan's Point , Ontario) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender , - arbitration and -funktionär.
Career
Francis Moore began his career as a hockey player with the Toronto Canoe Club Paddlers, with whom he won the Memorial Cup in 1920 . From 1930 to 1935 the goalie played for the Port Colborne Sailors of the Ontario Hockey Association . He then ran for the Toronto British Consols, before he represented Canada with the Port Arthur Bearcats at the 1936 Winter Olympics. Following the tournament, he played for the Toronto Goodyears in the OHA for a year. From 1942 to 1945 he was president of the Ontario Hockey Association, while he was also a referee in their senior championship.
Since the year of his death, 1976, the FW "Dinty" Moore Trophy named after him has been awarded to the best rookie goalkeeper in Canada's top junior league, the Ontario Hockey League . Some of his 1936 Olympic equipment is on display in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto .
International
For Canada , Moore took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he and his team won the silver medal.
