Ditmar Lothar Staffelt (born August 1, 1949 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

He was 1998-2009 Member of Parliament, during this period from 2002 to 2005 Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor and from 2009 to 2012 worked as a management representative for politics and government work in Germany at the air - space - and defense group EADS . He has been working as a freelance political and business consultant since 2013.

education and profession

After graduating from the Albrecht-Dürer-Oberschule in Neukölln in 1969, Staffelt studied history , political science and geography at the Free University of Berlin and finished his studies in 1975 with the state examination . He then worked as a research assistant at the Franz Neumann Archive until 1979 . V. and then as a freelance speaker at the Information Center Berlin. Memberships

Staffelt had been a member of the GEW since 1971 ; in 1977 he joined the ÖTV , and since 1983 a member of the IG Metall. Staffelt has been a member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt since 1976 and a member of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund and the Europa-Union Berlin since 1978 .

Political party

Staffelt has been a member of the SPD since 1969. From 1980 to 1994 he was a member of the state executive of the SPD in Berlin, from 1992 to 1994 as its state chairman. From 1992 to 1995 he was also a member of the SPD federal executive committee.

MP

From 1979 to 1998 Staffelt was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . From 1985 to 1989 he was first deputy chairman and from 1989 to 1994 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group .

From 1998 to 2009 Staffelt was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1999 to 2002 he was the spokesman for the economics and technology working group and a member of the board of the SPD parliamentary group . From June 2006 to 2009 he was spokesman for the parliamentary group working group on the world economy .

Staffelt has always moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Berlin-Neukölln constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 39.3% of the first votes . On November 16, 2008, he surprisingly announced the resignation of his mandate to become a lobbyist at the European aerospace company EADS . He resigned his mandate on January 11, 2009, and Eva Högl was the successor .

Public offices

On March 1, 2002 Staffelt was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary, first until October 2002 with the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology , then with the Federal Minister of Economics and Labor in the federal government led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder . Since November 2002 he has also been the coordinator for the German aerospace industry. After the general election in 2005 , he left office on November 22, 2005.

Change to the private sector

On January 11, 2009, Ditmar Staffelt resigned from his Bundestag mandate to work as "Executive Commissioner for Politics and Government Work in Germany" for the aviation group EADS . Since leaving EADS in 2013, he has been working as an independent political and corporate consultant.

Staffelt is married to the former Green MP Grietje Bettin , who also took his last name in 2008, and has a daughter. He used to be in a relationship with Renate Künast , also a politician for the Greens.
