Dominic Muldowney

Dominic John Muldowney (born July 19, 1952 in Southampton , England ) is a British composer .

biography

Dominic John Muldowney studied music with Jonathan Harvey at the University of Southampton and with Bernard Rands and David Blake at the University of York . He also took private lessons from Harrison Birtwistle . From 1974 to 1976 he worked as a composer for the Southern Arts Association . From 1976 he was employed as a composer at the Royal National Theater in London , where he replaced Birtwistle as music director in 1981 and stayed until 1997. He also worked as a composition lecturer at the Royal Academy of Music .

Muldowney worked as a composer for both theater and film and television. He was best known for the music on films such as 1984 and Bloody Sunday and, together with John Tams , for the film series The Snipers . He also composed classical music and arranged a few songs for musicians such as David Bowie and Sting .
