Dommershausen , in the local dialect Dommasch , is a municipality in the low mountain range of the Hunsrück in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Kastellaun .

The district of Dommershausen is the namesake of the local community Dommershausen. The districts of Dommershausen, Dorweiler , Eveshausen and Sabershausen belong to the local community .
Dommershausen district
geography
The district of Dommershausen with 449 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2010) lies on a ridge between the Baybach and Lützbachtal .
The Gastemühle and Neumühle residential areas also belong to the Dommershausen district .
history
Dommershausen is first mentioned in 1220 as Dumershusen . The mention shows that Dumershusen is not charged with any tax. The place belonged to the condominium Beltheim court and was thus under the rule of Kurtrier , Sponheim and the Lords of Braunshorn (after their extinction Winneburg and after their extinction Metternich ). With the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Since 1946 the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

museum
Vorderhunsrückmuseum , Pies archive and library on personal and local history (since 1992) in the former rectory from 1837/38. Presence exhibitions document the surgeons and "bone tinkers" of the Pies family who have been working on the Hunsrück in and around Dommershausen since the Thirty Years' War, as well as medical instruments from two millennia.
There are also changing exhibitions on the history of the Vorderhunsrück. The library collects data from church registers from the 16th to 19th centuries from around 1400 locations, especially in the Rhine-Mosel-Nahe-Saar area and regional historical literature.
Youth room
In 2001 the youth room was opened in Dommershausen, at the same time as the new fire station. The mayor described the opening as “a big step for the community of Dommershausen”.

The current local community was established on March 17, 1974 as part of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative and territorial reform, which began in the second half of the 1960s, through the formation of the dissolved and previously independent communities Dommershausen (then 421 inhabitants), Dorweiler (234), Eveshausen (115) and Sabershausen (339).
