Doru Sechelariu

Doru Sirius Sechelariu (born November 19, 1992 in Bacau ) is a Romanian racing driver .

Career

Sechelariu began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 , in which he was active until 2005. At 13, he gave in 2006 in two races in the Belgian Formula Renault 1.6 debut in single-seater racing and entered in 2007 in the Belgian Formula Renault 1.6 at. In both seasons he started for the racing team of the former Formula 1 driver Thierry Boutsen . In 2007 he finished sixth in the drivers' championship with a win. He also competed in six British Formula BMW races for Raikkonen Robertson Racing .

In 2008 Sechelariu switched completely to Formula BMW and competed for Fortec Motorsport in the European version, which was the result of the merger of the German and English series . As the best placement, he reached fourth place and finished 15th in the championship at the end of the season. He also started in the American and Pacific Formula BMW and was the first to cross the finish line in two races in the Pacific Championship. In 2009 the Romanian took part in the European Formula BMW for various teams and competed in every race. At the end of the season he finished 14th overall with a third place as the best result. In addition, he took part in the European F3 Open for half a season and finished 16th in the overall ranking at the end of the year.

In 2010 Sechelariu switched to Tech 1 Racing in the newly founded GP3 series . At the end of the season he finished 29th overall. In 2011 , Sechelariu planned to complete his second season in the GP3 series for Tech 1 Racing. One month before the start of the season, however, the team announced a different trio of drivers because Sechelariu and his management were unable to meet the terms of the contract.

Doru Sechelariu's father Dumitru Sechelariu (1958–2013) was mayor of Bacau from 1996 to 2004.
