Douglas Alan Berry (born June 3, 1957 in New Westminster , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player ( striker ).

Career

Doug Berry started his career in 1975 at the University of Denver , for which he was active for a total of three years in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 1977, the left shooter was selected in the NHL Amateur Draft in 38th place by the Colorado Rockies . In the WHA draft that year, the Calgary Cowboys selected him as 17th. In 1978, however, he signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers in the WHA, which had received the rights to the center striker from the Cowboys. From 1979 to 1981 he played for the Rockies in the NHL for two years before moving to Germany for the first time. At the end of the 1981/82 season he played again briefly in North America, but returned to the Mannheim ERC for the following season , for which he played until 1984. After a year in the National League A with Servette Geneva , he moved to the Cologne Sharks in the 1985/86 season . In seven years he won three German championships with the KEC (1986, 1987 and 1988 ) and one runner-up ( 1991 ).

His three years younger brother Ken also played in the NHL and the national ice hockey league.

Doug Berry is married to a woman from Cologne, has two children and now lives in White Rock near Vancouver .
