The Dresdensia SV Dresden was a German sports club from Dresden , whose football department existed between 1910 and 1945. The home of the Dresdensia was the Ilgenkampfbahn . The most famous Saxon player was the later national player and national coach Helmut Schön , who wore the Dresdensia jersey between 1926 and 1930.

Football section

Dresdensia Dresden was separated from ATV Dresden , founded in 1898, as an independent football club in 1910 . The club initially operated under the name FC Dresdensia Dresden , later as Dresdensia SV . Dresdensia Dresden was clearly behind the two big local rivals Dresdner SC and Guts Muts Dresden at the time of its existence . Until the mid-1930s, the Dresdeners played exclusively at the local level in East Saxony. In 1935 Dresdensia drove its only title, winning the East Saxon championship. In the associated qualification for the Gauliga promotion round, the East Saxons prevailed against the Vogtland master Elsterberger BC and rose to the Gauliga Sachsen together with BC Hartha .

The top German division turned out to be too big for Dresden. Dresdensia had no chance against established Gauligists such as PSV Chemnitz or Fortuna Leipzig and was relegated with only three season points. In the period that followed, the club's resurgence in East Saxony often failed because of Riesaer SV and Sportfreunde Dresden .

After the cessation of game operations in the 1944/45 season, the club was dissolved in 1945. A new establishment did not take place after the end of the war.

Athletics section

The track and field athletes were always overshadowed by their more successful local rivals Dresdner SC . Nevertheless, there are two German championship titles to be recorded:
