from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Druthmar von Corvey (also Druthmarus, Dietmar, Druchmarus, Drutmarus, Druotmarus, Diethmarus, Theotmarus ) († February 15, 1046 in Corvey ) was abbot of Corvey Monastery since 1015 . As a reformer, he played a significant role in introducing the principles of the Gorzer Reform into Corvey. He is a blessed of the Catholic Church.

Life

Druthmar was a monk in the Lorsch Monastery . Bishop Meinwerk of Paderborn appointed him abbot of Corvey with the consent of Emperor Heinrich II . The previous abbot Walo, who was accused of limp monastic discipline, was deposed. Druthmar introduced the principles of the Gorzer Reform in Corvey. Some of the monks left the monastery in protest, while those who stayed behind were dissatisfied because the monastery was actually independent of episcopal instructions. The monks who had left the monastery returned later, and through his work the abbot was able to reduce mistrust. Druthmar also raised the monastery materially by recovering old possessions. He was personally pious and encouraged the monks' studies. He had a list of goods drawn up based on the old abbey documents.

His feast day is February 15th.
