Dwayne Hickman (* 18th May 1934 in Los Angeles , California as Dwayne Hickman Bernard ) is an American actor . His career spans over 60 roles in film and television productions. He was best known for the movies of the 1950s and 1960s such as Don't be afraid of hot things , Cat Ballou - You should hang out in Wyoming , Ski Party , Dr. Goldfoot and his bikini machine or doctor - you're kidding! .

life and career

Dwayne Hickman, born in Los Angeles, California in 1934, first followed in the footsteps of his older brother Darryl and began acting as a child in Hollywood in the 1940s. He played his first notable supporting role in Lloyd Bacon's film drama The Daredevil Adventures of Captain Eddie from 1945. Until 1950 he played numerous smaller parts until 1954 as an actor in episodes of popular television series. In 1958 he was seen in Leo McCarey's literary film adaptation Not Afraid of Spicy Things , alongside Paul Newman , Joanne Woodward , Joan Collins and Jack Carson .

At the end of the 1950s he played the role of the title hero Dobie Gillis in 148 episodes in the television series The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis from 1959 to 1963 . In the 1970s and 1980s, two more independent television films followed, where he was seen again in this one of his most famous television roles.

In the 1960s, he starred in the cinema primarily in comedies, including in Elliot Silverstein's award-winning western ballad Cat Ballou - Hang in Wyoming as Jed alongside Jane Fonda , Lee Marvin and Michael Callan . He was also seen in Alan Rafkin's comedic musical Ski Party , in Norman Taurog's science fiction comedy Dr. Goldfoot and his bikini machine or in Peter Tewksbury's comedy film Doctor - You're kidding! .

In the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s he played mostly in TV films and episodes of popular TV series and Hickman was only seen sporadically in feature films, such as in Peter Cranes Cops n Roberts (1995), in John Fortenberry's comedy A Night at the Roxbury (1998) or in Angels with Angles by director Edmund Lane (2005).

Dwayne Hickman is the younger brother of actor Darryl Hickman .
