Eberhard Sachs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eberhard Sachs (also: Sax ; † 1319 ?) Was from 1299 Domdekan to Salzburg and 1305-1317 dean of the monastery pen Berchtesgaden and was until his death in 1319 or 1320 on 12 April 1317 as provost appointed to Salzburg.

As provost of the Berchtesgaden monastery, Eberhard Sachs was still subject to the metropolitan authority of the Archdiocese of Salzburg . It was not until 1455 that the monastery was able to get rid of it and was then subordinate to the Pope in spiritual matters . But the secular independence of the Stiftspropstei began to manifest itself as early as 1294 through the acquisition of blood jurisdiction for serious offenses.

The salt errors between the monastery monastery and the archbishopric of Salzburg, which had been going on for decades , began right at the beginning of his reign, because - according to the historian Koch-Sternfeld - in 1306 "a bunch of Berchtesgaden people suddenly fell out of the archbishopric on the Untersberg and committed great violence" . Eberhard Sachs then “restored calm and order and peace”.

1306 was also the year in which the area of the Stiftspropstei Berchtesgaden is referred to as "lant ze berthersgadem". According to Brugger et al. “the formation of sovereign sovereignty” was already completed under Eberhard's predecessor Johann Sax von Saxenau . And in 1313 every tenth salt ship on the Salzach or Inn came from Berchtesgaden.
