Eduard "Edi" Federer (born February 20, 1955 in Mühlbach am Hochkönig , Salzburg ; † May 30, 2012 in Pfarrwerfen ) was an Austrian ski jumper and sports manager .

Career

Federer began his career in FIS jumping on January 3rd, 1971 in Innsbruck . He finished the competition on the Bergiselschanze in 73rd place. After jumping only to 64th place in Bischofshofen on January 6th of the same year, he took an international break of three years and did not return to the Four Hills Tournament in 1974.

At the Four Hills Tournament 1974/75 he reached the 2nd place in the overall ranking with 874 points. It was his only big success. With a second place in the jumping on January 3rd, 1975 in Innsbruck he was able to jump on the podium for the first time and for the only time in his career in an individual competition.

After his active career, he founded a sports management company and was Andreas Goldberger's manager from 1992 until his retirement from ski jumping in 2005 . He then looked after the Polish ski jumping team as a manager and was the personal manager of Adam Małysz and Thomas Morgenstern before retiring in 2010 due to the nerve disease ALS , from which he died on May 30, 2012.
