Edith Hrovat
Edith Hrovat (born January 15, 1956 in Bruck an der Mur ) is a former Austrian judoka .
biography
Edith Hrovat was active for PSV Leoben . When she took part in the European Judo Championships for the first time , she started in 1975 in Munich in the lightweight category and immediately took first place. In the next few years she rose to a weight class and thus fought up to 52 kg. It was not until 1980 that she was unable to defend her title and took third place. In the same year she won the title in New York City at the first ever women's world championships . She won other European championships in 1981, 1982 and 1984. At the 1984 World Championships in Vienna, she was only defeated in the final and came second. In 1984 she was voted Austrian Sportswoman of the Year .
