Eduard Decarli

Eduard Decarli (born January 9, 1846 in Olomouc ; † October 23, 1903 in Radebeul ; birth name: Eduard Johann Jakob Schmidt ) was a German court opera singer ( bass ) and actor .

Live and act

After Decarli had started to study at the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna in 1864/1865 after secondary school , he took singing lessons at the Vienna Court Opera School and then with Alexander Arlet, Matteo Salvi and Giovanni Gentiluomo .

In 1868 he made his debut at the Stadttheater in Frankfurt am Main . He then performed in Augsburg, Laibach and from 1869 at the court theater in Braunschweig . In 1872 or 1873 he was hired to succeed Emil Scaria at the Dresden Court Theater. Until 1902 he was successful there in the serious and buffo- subject and also as an actor in spoken theater. In the meantime he was a guest at the Vienna Court Opera in 1880 . He was a member of the Braunschweig Freemason Lodge Carl zum Crowned Pillar .

Decarli, who was awarded the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Albrecht Order, died in 1903 in his apartment at Radebeuler Moritzstrasse 1 and was buried in Radebeul. His son Bruno Decarli (1877–1950) was also an actor.
