Edward Samhaber
Edward Samhaber (born December 26, 1846 in Freistadt , † March 27, 1927 in Linz ) was an Austrian literary historian , poet , playwright and, among other things, a high school teacher in Freistadt.
Samhaber is known as the author of formally masterful lyric poetry and of adaptations of Old and Middle High German texts.
Honors
- In 1885 he became an honorary member of the Carniola Graz fraternity .
- In 1926 he was given honorary citizenship in Freistadt. Samhaber is buried at the St. Barbara Cemetery in Linz.
- In 1935 the Samhaberplatz in Vienna- Penzing (14th district) was named after him.
- In his honor there is a plaque on the town hall of Freistadt.
