history

There is very little information about prehistoric history about Effeln. The name appears in a document of the monastery Grafschaft dated before 1217, in which Sifridus de Effele also appears among the witnesses. Until the municipal reorganization, which came into force on January 1, 1975, Effeln was an independent municipality in what was then the Rüthen Office. Since then, Effeln has been one of ten localities in the newly formed municipality of Anröchte in 1975, which was assigned to the newly formed Soest district.

politics

The mayor is Stephan Langesberg-Göckede (CDU).

coat of arms

Blazon

"In silver under a blue rafter a blue anointing oil vessel."

Symbolism of the shield image

The symbols are taken from the historical coat of arms of the noble family von Meschede and the patron saint of the parish, St. Maria Magdalena. The colors silver and blue stand for the patronage right of the Grafschaft monastery over the Effelner church and the affiliation of Effeln to the Electoral Cologne Duchy of Westphalia until 1802. The coat of arms has a non-official character and serves purely representative purposes. It was created for Effeln in 1995.
