Egipar in Ur
In the Sumerian city of Ur it was in the northern part of the village and bordered on the district of Nanna, who was worshiped there as the main and moon god . The ziggurat of Nanna was founded around 2100 BC. Built by King Ur-Nammu .
Rim-Sin I. first renewed the temple complex and set his sister in 1764 BC. Chr. With the Sin consecrated name En-ane-du a. Nabu-na'id built in his second year of reign in 554 BC. The sanctuary, which had since fallen into disrepair, revived the old cult and, according to old tradition, appointed his daughter with her new name En-nigaldi-Nanna as an Entu priestess .
The tombs of the priestesses who lived there were found during archaeological excavations in the Egipar temple district . According to Sumerian and Babylonian rites , the consecrated daughters spent the rest of their lives as married gods in the sanctuaries.
