The former quarry south of Tannen is a geotope and natural monument in the Iller Vorberge natural area in Kempten (Allgäu) .

In this artificially created outcrop are rocks of the alpine molasse that are 60 degrees steep. They are formed from sandstones , conglomerates and marl stones . The Upper Sea Molasse overlays the rocks of the weathered Lower Freshwater Molasse in the outcrop . In the quarry, animal fossils and sedimentary structures can be seen in the strata .

The natural monument is around 25 meters long, 6 meters wide, 15 meters high and has an area of ​​around 150 square meters. In 2007, the outcrop was designated as a locally significant and valuable geotope (geotope no. 763A001) by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment .
