Eichholzer SV
The Eichholzer SV is a sports club from Lübeck , which is located within the St. Gertrud district in the Eichholz district . The first soccer team played for three years in the Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga .
history
The association was founded on June 18, 1948 by expellees from the eastern German territories . As early as 1953, he was promoted to the district class south , which could be held for two years. In 1961, the ESV rose to the now 2nd Amateur League South called division and in 1968 managed to move up to the state league, at the time the top division of Schleswig-Holstein. In 1972 the Eichholz team finished third and missed the promotion round to Regionalliga Nord by just one point. Instead, the club took part in the German Amateur Championship . In the preliminary round the ESV was able to prevail against FC Rodalben , but was eliminated in the quarter-finals against 1. FC Normannia Gmünd . In the same year, the team secured the SHFV Cup with a 3-2 after extra time over Schleswig 06 .
After relegation in 1975, the Eichholzers became an elevator team between the association and regional leagues. Only after the fifth promotion to the Schleswig-Holstein upper house in 1996 was the club able to establish itself in the long term. After the third place in the association league season 1997/98, the ESV became champions a year later and rose to the Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga. The team stayed in the league for three years and reached midfield positions. Since the Eichholz team rarely had more than 200 spectators at home, the club voluntarily withdrew the team to the district league in 2002. In the meantime slipped into the district class B, the club played again from 2008 to 2012 in the district class A. In the 2011/12 season, the first men's team managed a further promotion to the Lübeck district league. At the end of the 2016/17 season, the first men's team achieved another promotion to the Association League South / Schleswig-Holstein. In the 2019/20 season, the first men of Eichholzer Sv managed to return to the regional league after almost 30 years as the season winner of the Verbandsliga Süd (Schleswig-Holstein) after the season was canceled due to the Corona.
