Einfrid Halvorsen

Einfrid Halvorsen (born October 13, 1937 in Skien ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). She was the Minister for Consumers and Administration of her country from 1988 to 1989.

Political career

Between 1971 and 1979 she was a member of the local parliament of Skien. From 1983 to 1986 she was the city's mayor.

Halvorsen was in the legislative period from 1977 to 1981 and from 1981 to 1985 so-called Vararepresentantin in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . As such, she was deployed for two weeks in October 1981, when her party colleague Finn Kristensen was unable to exercise his mandate because he was still a minister at that time.

On May 9, 1986, she was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Local Affairs and Labor. She held this post until July 24, 1987. On June 13, 1988, Halvorsen was appointed Minister of Consumers and Administration, an office which she held until April 28, 1989. She was forced to resign after it became known that she had embezzled 90,000 kroner from a union treasury.

From 1995 to 2007 she sat again in the local parliament of Skien. Between 1991 and 2005, she was General Secretary of Mental Helse , an organization that represents the interests of people with mental illness.
